Coconut Materials:

Early Research

First I’ve been looking at what the uses of the whole coconut are. It's a really versatile material and every part of the coconut is useful.

Fiber

Oil

Used to make carpets. Or to use as a flower basket

Coconut shell
Can be turned into:

Charcoal

Pallets

(can also be used as a natural soil improver)

Jewelry

Coconut oil is less popular then Palm Oil. but its in general a better alternative. It has a lower Low impact because less pesticide is used.

Farm operations carried out by hand and therevor very little fuel is consumed.
Exportation is still not very environmentally friendly. However good alternatives for wooden pallets like pallets from coconut waste is already helping.

Sustainability of Coconut

Further research into deforestation in comparison to palm oil is required. It does appear to be harder to find good sources for this.
